Advancing Racial Equity in Greater Cleveland: Updates from Your Community Foundation

#JuneteenthDay: A celebration of freedom

Juneteenth is recognized nationally as the oldest commemoration celebrating the abolishment of slavery. While Americans have been celebrating Juneteenth for more than 150 years, this will be only the second year the nation recognizes it as a national holiday.

At the Cleveland Foundation, our hope as we celebrate Juneteenth is that we reinforce the importance for our nation to acknowledge a more complete history that honors the experiences of all Americans. We are proud to support several events commemorating the holiday across our community. Visit our blog here for details!

Register for Thirdspace Action Lab’s REI workshops

The Cleveland Foundation is partnering with Thirdspace Action Lab (TSAL) to help expand access to racial equity training in Cleveland. This year, the foundation will support 150 registrations for two of TSAL’s Racial Equity Institute (REI) workshops: Phase One training focused on exploring why and how structural racism and racial inequity exist in the U.S. and their compounding effects over time; and Latinx Challenges, which provides a critical analysis of how Latinos have been racialized in the U.S., and an exploration of the cultural backdrop of race and racism in Latin America that shapes Latinos’ layered identities today.

Sponsored workshop spots can be used for any remaining Phase One or Latinx Challenges offerings in 2022. Check the schedule here and use the promo code “Community22” on check out!
